What's already included with our hosting
Web, WordPress, Business and Unlimited plans include free SSL and daily malware scanning. For many small sites, that's enough.
Add these tools when you need:
- A certificate with organisation validation, a warranty or a site seal
- Daily external scanning and vulnerability tests
- An independent off-site backup with long retention
- Protection for a site hosted somewhere else
Which should I start with?
Running a store or taking logins?
Put SSL in place first, then add website security for malware scanning.
Updating plugins often?
Add website backup so you can roll back a bad update.
Managing client sites?
Higher backup plans cover up to 100 sites per account, and website security gives each client a site seal.
Do I need all three?
Not always. SSL is essential for every website. Website security and website backup each cover a different risk, so add them based on how much your site handles and how hard it would be to rebuild.
Do these work if my site is hosted elsewhere?
Yes. SSL certificates can be installed on any server, and website security and website backup connect to your site over FTP or SFTP, wherever it's hosted.
What's the difference between website security and website backup?
Website security tries to stop problems and spot them early: it scans for malware and vulnerabilities and removes malware it finds. Website backup is your recovery plan: it keeps copies you can restore if something gets through.
